Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring full-time Registered Nurse Nursing Professional Development Generalist (Educator) for our Emergency Department home to Hampton Roads only Level I Trauma Center. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing emergency nursing team where clinical skill teamwork and purpose come together to make an immediate impact for patients and families across the region.

Position Status: Full-time 40 hours per week
Shift: Days
Hours:7:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.
On Call: One Weekend approximately every 10 weeks
The Nurse Professional Development Generalist assumes operational responsibility for the development and implementation of staff education within designated population(s). Functions as a learning facilitator supporting orientation practice transitions and continuing education. Provides foundational education competency/skills validation to successfully move nurses from novice to beginner/competent practitioners. Accountable for defined aspects of staff development continuing education and professional development of nursing staff to improve quality safety and patient outcomes. Supports system and hospital performance improvement and evidence-based practice projects and initiatives.

Education Requirements
Bachelors Level Degree BSN in Registered Nursing Required
Certification/Licensure Requirements
Registered Nurse license required
Basic Life Support (BLS) ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire
NIHSS TCRN SCRN TNCC CEN preferred
Experience Requirements
Two Years of Clinical RN experience Required
Emergency Department Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
Process Improvement Project Management and Nursing Education experience strongly preferred
