About the Facility Atlanta VAMC
Atlanta VA Medical Center (VAMC) a Joint Commission designated medical facility sits on 26 acres in Decatur Georgiajust minutes from downtown Atlanta. The main medical center is a level 1A tertiary care facility providing patient-centered healthcare via an array of comprehensive medical surgical geriatric specialty services as well as state-ofthe-art diagnostic testing throughout 14 sites of care. With 466 inpatient beds including a 120-bed Community Living Center a 40-bed domiciliary and a 21-bed Residential Treatment Program the Atlanta VAMC is uniquely positioned to serve the healthcare needs of more than 130000 enrolled Veterans living in 50 counties across northeast Georgia. The Medical Center also a teaching hospital provides hands-on and state-of-the-art technology education and research to residents in collaboration with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine.

RN Behavioral Health - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The Mental Health Unit is a locked unit comprised of beds for inpatient psychiatry treatment.
- The patients in this unit carry various psychiatric diagnoses including depression anxiety schizophrenia bipolar disorder personality disorders and cognitive impairment such as dementia. Many patients may be under involuntary and/or court ordered admissions.
- Shall be responsible for patient assessments medication administration interdisciplinary team coordination admissions discharges internal and external transfers delegating to assistive personnel electronic medical record documentation patient transport withdrawal monitoring and management and emergency response procedures.
- Shall have knowledge in applying de-escalation techniques to help people manage their emotions and behavior.
- Shall provide evidence-based individual support such as cognitive behavior therapy principles for depression and anxiety.
- Completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
- A current license in at least one state territory or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
- A minimum of three years direct inpatient care experience in the mental health/behavioral health specialty.
- Must have BLS through the American Heart Association.
