About the position: Thank you for your interest in joining Air Force Services Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF). By joining our team you play a vital role in supporting the morale welfare and readiness of our Airmen Guardians and their families. We are seeking a dynamic Recreation Assistant to lead our outdoor activity programs at the beautiful Ft. Tuthill Off-Base Recreation Area in Flagstaff Arizona.





Duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Outdoor Adventures: Conduct comprehensive programs of outdoor activities including multi-day white water rafting trips kayaking backpacking day hikes bus tours and on-site special events.
  • Trip Leadership & Transportation: Serve as the primary trip leader. Safely operate a 12-15 passenger vehicle to transport patrons and drive a rig truck to transport equipment to and from program locations.
  • Ensure Safety & Accountability: Maintain strict control of whereabouts and ensure the absolute safety of assigned patrons during all events programs and activities.
  • Administrative Duties: Prepare after-action reports send upcoming program information to customers compile customer critiques and comment cards and maintain accurate program records.
  • Customer Engagement: Assist patrons in selecting activities and help further their interests in outdoor recreation.
  • Note: This position is subject to an irregular tour of duty.

In order to qualify you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:

  • Experience: Must have general knowledge and experience demonstrating familiarity with the routines procedures and practices of outdoor group activities. Proven experience in conducting outdoor adventure programs is required.
  • Specialized Skills: Experience in white water guiding techniques including swift water rescue and boatmanship is highly preferred.
  • Certifications: At a minimum must possess an approved and current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (or equivalent).
  • Driving Requirements: The ability to safely operate a 12-15 passenger vehicle. Must successfully complete drivers license training and a physical fitness inquiry for motor vehicle operators.
    Education

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

    FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
