Serves as a Lifeguard Trainee in the Aquatics Dept. of the Hale Koa Hotel.

This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard. Those hired for this position will be required to complete the lifeguard training to include the acquisition of all certifications (listed below) within 30 days of employment. Those who fail to do so will be released from employment. Lifeguarding certifications include:
- Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard YMCA or ELLIS); American Red Cross Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional.
-CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).
-First Aid. Upon completion of mandatory certifications the incumbent will be noncompetitively reassigned to Recreation Aid (Lifeguard) responsible for lifeguarding guest in attendance at an assigned aquatic facility.
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required upon appointment
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position
- Satisfactory completion of employment verification (E-Verify) check
- One year probationary period may be required
- A physical examination may be required
- Must be able to obtain a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Must be able to work weekdays weekends holidays and various hours of the day and week when required.
A qualified candidate must possess the following:
1. Must be able to swim.
2. Must be able to participate in the lifeguard certifications.
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
Area of Consideration:
- This job is open to candidates who live in this commuting area (the Island of Oahu). If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded all candidates will be considered. If you reside outside of the local commuting area relocation costs will be at your expense.
- This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time regular part-time and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
