Goodwill Dallas achieves its mission by helping people build skills find jobs and ultimately reach their goals in life through two closely integrated programs:

  • The Donated Goods Program provides direct employment through the recycling and reselling of material donations across 18 stores and a 175000 sq. ft. warehouse.
  • The Workforce Development Program assist clients with assessments education job readiness training coaching and career placement.
  • Goodwills unique approach includes: a fair chance and opportunity a person-centered holistic approach and multiple paths to success in a safe supportive environment. The Donated Goods Program provides employment by offering work through the recycling and reselling of material donations in stores throughout the community while keeping millions of pounds of reusable items out of our landfills. Every dollar that is generated from retail stores is invested back into creating employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and disadvantaged conditions.
  • There are over 220000 individuals with disabilities in the north Texas region. Only 90000 have jobs. Last year Goodwill Dallas placed over 1000 individuals with jobs - earning more than $22 million in wages. Since 1923 Goodwill Dallas has served over 100000 individuals in the North Texas community.

Goodwill Dallas is a 501(c)3 organization providing direct employment across eight counties 18 stores 6 stand-alone donation centers and 1 regional hub. The organization is governed by a 56-member Board of Directors and employs over 600 staff.

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Team Leader the Recover Clerks responsibilities include tending to the shopping needs of customers greeting interacting and monitoring customers to help the store in loss prevention and merchandising and organizing hard goods accessories and clothing racks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  1. Provide exemplary customer service and assist customers with the selection of merchandise.
  2. Examine the sales floor to ensure merchandise is well-stocked well-maintained and properly sized.
  3. Assist in maintaining the store appearance.
  4. Keep the sales floor area clean and safe and other store areas as directed.
  5. Maintain a well-groomed appearance and appropriate dress code including name badge.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Team Lead or Production Team Leader.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

  1. Ability to adhere to the organizations Core Principles.
  2. Knowledge of textile articles related to quality and garment classification (gowns shirts pants etc.).
  3. Knowledge of retail and/or stock handling.
  4. Ability to listen and follow directions.
  5. Ability to read write speak and understand the English language

Education and/or Experience:

Previous retail and/or stock handling experience is preferred.

Math Ability:

Level 1: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.

Computer Skills: No computer skills are required for this position.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  1. Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  2. Vision abilities required by this job include: close distance color peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  3. Standing and walking for long periods of time.
  4. Ability to stoop bend kneel push and pull.
  5. Sufficient mobility to turn from side to side and the ability to lean and remove items from containers.
  6. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers light traffic).

Language Ability:

Level 1: Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Reasoning Ability:

Level 2: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
