Job Description

The Department of Computer Science (CS) is seeking an extremely detail-oriented organized and professional individual to serve as the Receptionist and Event Coordinator in the Office of the Department Head (DH). The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

This forward-facing position reports to the Executive Assistant/Office Manager of the DH office and serves as the first point of contact for the department providing general administrative support to members of the DH office. Additionally this position provides support for all levels of tracking planning and executing departmental events.

Required Qualifications

- Previous administrative support customer service or event planning experience in an academic or professional setting

- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly effectively and diplomatically with diverse constituencies in a professional manner

- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software and/or Google Suite

- Ability to work independently within a team-based environment

- Proven ability to prioritize multiple competing demands and deadlines and to work accurately in a fast-paced environment

- Must be a strong team player with a willingness to assist as needed with other functions within the department.

- Must hold a valid Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications

- Associates degree or equivalent level of training and/or related work experience

- Administrative support or event planning experience in a university setting

- Proficiency with desktop publishing software (Canva Adobe tools etc.)

- Proficiency with Hokiemart

- Experience with university systems policies and procedures as they pertain to projects and events
