Job Summary

Summary
The Radiologist Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the Diagnostic Radiology department and throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Produce a variety of high-quality radiographs through proper positioning and technique
  • Administer contrast media using proper technique and according to department policy
  • Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions
  • Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders charges and/or credits
  • Review patients chart for confirmation of physicians orders and follows written and/or verbal protocols and instructions
  • Follow department NRG and State policies and regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure
  • ALARA
  • Educate the patient and family when necessary regarding the exam treatment and outcome
  • Performing visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to appropriate supervisor
  • Performing procedures as the schedule requires and rotate call
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and identification band on in-patients
  • Attend required hospital-wide orientations meetings and in-services
  • Present self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette
  • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Reports to: The Operations Manager though may also receive work from Radiologists the Administrative Director of Radiology and the Senior and Clinical Leads
  • Supervises: None

Education and Experience
  • Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology
  • Preferred Education: N/A
  • Experience: Previous experience as a registered technologist is preferred but will accept a new graduate
Certificates Licenses Registrations
Applicants must be ARRT registered or registry eligible; applicants who are registry eligible must be registered within three months of employment. Must be BLS certified.
