Job Summary
SummaryUnder the direction of the Manager the Radiologic Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures using radiographic equipment while following established imaging protocols and safety standards. This role provides compassionate patient care by explaining procedures addressing questions and ensuring patient comfort throughout the imaging process.
The technologist operates a range of imaging equipment including diagnostic fluoroscopic and portable radiographic systems and collaborates with radiologists and interdisciplinary care teams to support high-quality patient care. While primarily assigned to one imaging area (Inpatient Outpatient or Emergency Department) this position may provide coverage in other departments or Mass General Brigham locations with appropriate training to support operational needs.
Registered Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required within 90 days of hire.

Essential Functions
-Verify patient identity review the requested examination obtain relevant patient history and document necessary information to ensure accurate and safe imaging.
-Explain imaging procedures in a clear compassionate manner adapting communication to meet each patients physical emotional and language needs while promoting comfort and understanding.
-Prepare and operate radiographic equipment selecting appropriate technical factors to produce high-quality diagnostic images while adhering to radiation safety standards.
-Perform diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and radiologist instructions.
-Review images for quality and accuracy ensuring proper labeling and successful transmission to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts
Qualifications
Education
- Certificate or Diploma in Radiography required.
- Associates Degree in Radiography preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
- State Radiologic Technologist License required.
- Registered Technologist (R.T. (ARRT)) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists preferred.
Experience
- 01 year of radiologic technologist experience preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide compassionate care and communicate effectively with patients families and colleagues in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read write and communicate effectively in English.
- Knowledge of anatomy physiology medical terminology radiation safety principles (including ALARA) radiographic positioning and imaging equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety.
- Ability to assess and respond appropriately in emergency situations and follow established infection prevention and control practices.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds and safely assist with patient positioning and transfers as needed.
- Demonstrates professionalism adaptability and a collaborative approach to supporting departmental and organizational needs.
