Job Summary

JOB GOAL:

The District Technology Specialist provides advanced technical support systems administration and project leadership for district technology systems. This role is responsible for resolving complex tasks issues escalated from front-line (Tier 1) support maintaining and improving critical systems leading and participating in technology projects and ensuring reliable secure and effective technology services across the district while ensuring a positive support experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associates degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  2. Three or more years of experience in technology support systems administration or a similar role
  3. Strong technical background supporting Windows Apple ChromeOS Google Workspace and related enterprise systems
  4. Experience with device management identity systems VoIP networking and/or infrastructure platforms preferred
  5. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across multiple systems
  6. Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
  7. Ability to work independently manage projects and prioritize competing demands
  8. High degree of professionalism discretion and attention to security privacy and data integrity


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for issues within assigned system-defined roles and operational platforms supporting district devices accounts peripherals classrooms and related technologies.
  2. Serve as the escalation point for issues that cannot be resolved by front-line (tier 1) support staff
  3. Provide in-person and remote assistance following established procedures and documentation within assigned system-defined roles and operational platforms
  4. Document all work in the districts ticketing and asset management systems logging technical requests solutions and account for time and resolution of work
  5. Administer configure and maintain district technology platforms and systems
  6. Own the reliability security and performance of assigned systems and services
  7. Perform advanced troubleshooting including root cause analysis of complex or systemic issues
  8. Lead and implement technology projects including system upgrades migrations and new equipment and platform deployments
  9. Design and maintain system configurations standards and documentation
  10. Work with vendors and service providers on support integration and project delivery
  11. Support Tier 1 staff and develop procedures and escalation standards
  12. Monitor system health and proactively address risks and performance issues
  13. Ensure systems comply with applicable federal and state data privacy and cybersecurity laws district policies and recognized industry standards for security reliability and business continuity
  14. Support classroom and other technologies such as phones displays printers audio systems and other peripherals
  15. Collaborate with leadership to plan technology improvements and roadmap initiatives
  16. Collaborate on joint technical projects
  17. Create and maintain technical documentation
  18. Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of networking and server infrastructure
  19. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Technology or designee

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Technology

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Typical office conditions: sitting bending stooping filing occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds of office supplies/files. Close vision at or correctable to normal range.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Per BAO collective bargaining agreement - 213 days
