Job Summary

The work schedule is 32.5 hours per week.

POSITION: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant

JOB GOAL:

Under supervision of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist the SLPA completes a variety of tasks to develop communication skills of students with diagnosed speech and language disorders/delays.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology; Bachelor Degree; Experience in school based practice preferred. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

REPORTS TO: Supervising SLP Principal and Director of Special Education or designee.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follows and implements documented treatment plans;

Collects and analyzes student progress data;

Conducts speech and language screenings without interpretation;

Prepares materials and activities for therapy sessions;

Prepares accommodations/modifications to promote access to the curriculum for use in classrooms;

Models and promotes communication development strategies for school staff

Other duties requested by the Principal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to sit on the floor or sit in small low to the ground chairs. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School year per BTA Paraprofessional contract

SALARY: Per BTA COTA/SLPA Salary Scale
