Job Summary

Morton Salt is seeking an experienced Quality Specialist to join our team in Rittman OH. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Quality Supervisor/Manager with coordinating all regulatory food safety and quality compliance activities. Responsible for the efficacy of Quality Systems and the application of continuous improvement programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with facility level quality system implementation and continuous improvement activities
• Accountable for root cause analysis investigation and documentation of product/process deviations and nonconformance issues
• Implements laboratory testing procedures in compliance with regulatory and industrial standards as directed by Corporate Quality Assurance
• Responsible for ensuring the principles of HACCP (FSP) are followed throughout the site and by all employees
• Responsible for ordering general quality department supplies and equipment
• Responsible for assisting in new material/supplier qualifications for quality and environmental testing
• Provide daily support to all departments regarding quality related inquiries
• Responsible for the generation distribution tracking and organization of nonconforming material rejection reports

• Ability to effectively communicate and present information to all levels throughout the Morton Salt organization as well as internal and external staff government authorities auditors customers vendors occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.

Position Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree required
• Degree in the sciences (Chemistry or Food) preferred
• Minimum two (2) years of experience operating in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Minimum two (2) years of lab related experience preferred
• Minimum knowledge of ERP systems and SAP preferred
• Intermediate proficiency of MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) preferred
