Job Summary:
With a focus on patients with a broad range of complex cardiac conditions across the continuum of care assists in the development implementation and evaluation of the overall quality and patient safety program. This position is accountable for: 1) supporting the organizations performance improvement process; 2) providing stewardship for the medical staff nursing and other clinical professional peer review processes; and 3) identifying performance trends as well as prioritizing and recommending improvements. Investigates specific areas of concern as identified by leadership.In collaboration with Quality and Heart Center program leadership provides consultation and assistance to medical administrative and other staff regarding peer review performance improvement patient safety and other quality-of-care issues. The Quality Coordinator translates clinical and operational data into actionable information; supports the monitoring and evaluation of quality safety and patient experience outcomes; and participates in initiatives designed to improve care and services provided to patients and families. The incumbent identifies performance trends formulates conclusions and develops recommendations to support continuous improvement efforts within the Heart Center and across the organization.
Qualifications:
Education
- Associates Degree related field (required)
- Bachelors Degree (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (required)
- CPHQ - Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality - NAHQ - National Association for Healthcare Quality (preferred) Or
- CPPS - Certified Professional in Patient Safety - CBPPS - Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety (preferred)
Work Experience
- Minimum four (4) years progressively responsible experience (required)
- Minimum five (5) years related field (required)
- Minimum four (4) years recent experience or knowledge of healthcare regulations including TJC Title XXII and other regulatory standards. (required)
Skills and Abilities
- Computer Skills Demonstrated progressive computer and presentation skills.
- Performance improvement and quality management experience are a plus.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level clinical problem-solving and critical thinking skills are a must.
