The role:

Join our team and help ensure top quality construction across this role youll coordinate solutions for complex material issues in the field and determine how they should be resolved. Youll work closely with ODOTs Quality Assurance team and contractor testing personnel reviewing test results and making key decisions that support the integrity of every project.

A day in the life:

  • Interpret roadway and bridge contract plans and specifications to ensure construction compliance.

  • Verify quality of fieldtested construction materials including soils aggregates concrete and asphalt.

  • Attend/facilitate key project meetings (prebid preconstruction precrush prepaving etc.) to maintain statewide consistency.

  • Inspect and document materials and construction methods. Coordinate with project managers and contractors.

  • Suspend noncompliant work reject nonspecification materials and communicate actions to project staff.

  • Oversee and coordinate all contractor split samples and confirm proper sampling testing and technician certifications.

  • Resolve discrepancies between contractor quality control and ODOT quality assurance test results.

  • Provide technical guidance on testing procedures troubleshooting mix designs and ensuring program compliance.

  • Prepare and review material test summaries verify results authorize payments and support change order documentation.

  • Train staff maintain certifications ensure safe work practices and maintain positive professional working relationships.

  • At least50% of the work is performed outdoors and requires working in inclement weather close tohighway traffic or construction equipment and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

  • Requireslifting upto50 pounds climbingladdersmovingaround uneven terrain overnight travel working long hours and being on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week including holidays.

  • Obtain and keep the following certifications: CAgT CEBT CDT CAT-I and QCT

Minimum qualifications:

Four years of experience in the field of engineeringin construction inspection surveyingand/or permitting;

OR

An associate degree in the field of engineering(civil or transportation-related) andtwo years of engineering technician experience;

OR

A bachelors degree in the field of engineering(civil or transportation-related) andone year of engineering technician experience;

OR

An equivalent combination of experience education and training.

Note:Related experience education and training can include but is not limited to construction management forestry geography geology geomatics mathematics physics remotesensingand/or urban planning.

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a validUSdriver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
