Description

Shift: 8 am - 4 pm

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • All products are inspected and assured that they meet customer requirements in all phases of its production including Sales Fabrication Coating and Testing as specified in Coherent Sales Orders or customer drawings. Daily written contact in the form of test results product documentation labeling and packaging of all products is accurately supplied to the customer. Communications dealing with problems and quality trends are timely and accurately reported to all departments. Various testing procedures are performed to guarantee that all products meet customer and Coherent internal quality requirements.

    The inspector is knowledgeable of all aspects of processing coating trays to stock or sales order including:

    • Transferring of parts and documentation from one sales order to another.

    • Tracking inspection and shipping of priority items

    • Inspecting & shipping walk-through orders.

    The inspector can perform the following testing procedures and/or utilize equipment:

    • Laser engraver.

    • Microscope inspection.

    • Measuring coated clear apertures with scale

    • Shrink wrapper for blanks.

    • Vacuum/Heat sealer.

    • Transporting product between departments.

    • Daily computer entries to allow tracking of work/sales orders in QA loggers.

    • Able to perform ERP transactions for stop/start and entering rejects.

    • Understands where to apply parts according to ERP.

    • Daily reporting of discrepancies in the QA logger for review with QA Supervisor and/or Manager.

    • Report non-conforming product to MRB. Rotate auditing/double-check duties at the prescribed intervals checking for:

    • Correct labels.

    • Correct serial numbers.

    • Proper documentation per customer or Coherent requirements.

    • Record results of audit.

    • Inspector will aide when necessary in the weekly inventory count of packaging supplies. Inspector will aide when necessary in the bi-weekly holder inventory count. Results sent back to GSC for reordering and Accounting for inventory correction.

    • Inspector will aide when necessary ensuring there is an adequate supply of production boxes on hand to meet shipping requirements.

    • Inspector will aide when necessary in the reordering packaging supplies with GSC.

Education & Experience

    • High School Diploma with strong emphasis in math background.

    • 1 to 3 years background in a manufacturing environment with strong math background. Technical background helpful in understanding technical concepts and drawings.

Due to ITAR compliance this position requires a U.S. citizen permanent resident alien or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Skills

    • Must have high organizational skills involving abilities to manage a variety of different work and responsibilities at the same time with attention to minute details a must.

    • Must have good verbal and written communication skills which involve direct daily interaction with other departments.

    • Ability to understand and remember a large variety of customer labeling and documentation requirements.

    • View ITAR and other controlled documents

    • Basic computer skills involving Microsoft office and data entry into programs.

    • ERP experience is a plus (SAP Oracle or equivalent)

    • Organization and attention to details

Working Conditions

    • Cleanroom environment with inspection stations

    • Constant mental and visual alertness needed.

    • Exposed to solvents on daily basis.

    • Exposed to High intensity light while inspecting certain product lines.

    • Ability to manage stressful situations.

Physical Requirements

    • Visual inspection requires good eyesight. Defects can be very small and detection is a must.

    • Standing <1 hours (per 8-hour shift)

    • Lifting <25 lbs. If more than that will require a two person lift or proper lifting equipment

    • Pushing/Pulling 5-50lbs.

    • Sitting 6-7 hours (per 8-hour shift)

    • Movement of products must be handled with care. Use of both hands are required when transporting parts in trays coating tools or any other method of packaging.

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
