SUMMARY:

Quincy Innovation Academy provides multiple learning pathways designed to meet the diverse needs of Quincy School District students. The Online Learning Teacher supports high school students enrolled in both synchronous and asynchronousonlinecoursesutilizingtheEdgenuitycourseplatform across a variety of subject areas.

The teacher builds strong relationships with students through regular weekly meetings tomonitorprogress provide feedback set goals and support academic success. The position also includes providingin personintervention and instructional support when students needadditionalassistance. Responsibilities include ongoing communication with parents and guardiansmaintainingaccuratestudent records and completing all documentation required to ensure compliance with Washington State Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) program requirements.

In addition the Online Learning Teacher provides direct instruction for targeted support courses which may include Civics Current World Problems or other courses based on student and program needs. The ideal candidate is committed to personalized learning student engagement and helping students make consistent progress toward graduation andpostsecondarygoals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Teaches students the content skills and attitudes to be successful in the masteryof WA state learning standards

• Fosters an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation process of assigned students both in person and in an online setting

• Communicates students academic and social emotional learning progress in meetings with students parents and other staff

• Creates learning plans with online learning students and their families that are compliant with OSPI Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) guidelines for online learning

• Plans and prepares well organized series of learning opportunities and activities; establishedobjectivesto ensure mastery of district outcomes.

• Manages and adapts online courseware to meet student needs and address priority learning standards.

• Assesses and evaluates student achievement; gives frequent actionable feedback on student learning adapts andmodifiestechniques and material for effectiveness as necessary for student progress and success;seeksand recommends specialassistanceasappropriate.

• Assistsstudents in developing social emotional skills and responsible behaviors;modelsappropriate behavior;maintainsand provides fair and consistent classroom management with both in person and virtual classroom groups.

• Acknowledges discusses rewards and corrects student behavior; disciplines students as necessary andmaintainsstudent safety.

• Evaluates and records student progress; prepares progress and grade reports asrequired; administersassessmentsas necessary.

• Attends orparticipatesin all required staff meetings committees team building fieldtripsand other activities.

• May occasionally need to drive students in a district get the necessaryType IIdriving endorsement to transport students in district vehicles.

• Teaches students how to learn and to gather and filter information through personal interaction print and web-based sources

• Curatessupplemental educational resourcesto support students growth toward WA state learning standards.

• Work collaboratively with other school staff to support school initiatives and school improvement activities

• Utilize technologyeffectivelyto meet professional expectations keep records and communicate with students parents and staff regularly

• Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.

• Must have good human relations and interpersonal skillsdemonstratedability to keep confidentiality and show initiative whenappropriate.

• Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.

• Occasionallydrivesstudentsin a will be provided for the candidate to obtainthe necessary Type II driving endorsement to transport students in districtcars.

• Teaches students how to learn and to gather and filter information through personal interaction print andweb basedsources.

• Demonstrates strong human relations and interpersonal skills maintains confidentiality and shows initiative when appropriate.

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently have or will have by the start date a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with a related inEnglish Language Arts Social Studies Science or Mathpreferred. Otherendorsementsmay be considered.

• Knowledgeof multiple content subject areas and ability to utilize effective classroom management and instructional techniques.

• Proficiency in reading and writing in English with strong digital and oral communication skills. Establish and maintain effective positive communication and working relationships with students parents or guardians staff and administrators.

• Ability to designand implementboth in person and onlinelessons in a multi grade multi subjectprogram witha diverse range of student learning needs.

• Skillusing digital education technology software tools

• Experience teaching in a multi age classroom preferred
