Schedule: First ShiftPay: Based on ExperiencePosition Type: Full-TimePosition SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Steel Purchasing Agent to join our team. This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate will have a proven background purchasing steel and steel-related products in a manufacturing environment. This individual will be responsible for sourcing materials negotiating pricing managing supplier relationships and ensuring raw materials are available to support production schedules while maintaining cost and quality ResponsibilitiesPurchase carbon steel stainless steel aluminum tubing plate bar stock sheet structural steel and other raw materials as and maintain strong relationships with steel mills distributors and and evaluate quotes while negotiating pricing lead times and delivery and manage purchase orders ensuring accuracy and timely inventory levels and forecast material requirements to prevent shortages or production closely with production planning engineering and inventory teams to meet manufacturing material certifications and ensure purchased materials meet required supplier performance resolve delivery or quality issues and identify alternate sourcing options when steel market trends pricing fluctuations and supply chain conditions to support purchasing accurate purchasing records and documentation within the companys ERP/MRP cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and supplier QualificationsPrevious experience purchasing steel is of 3-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing knowledge of steel products grades material specifications and manufacturing negotiating pricing contracts and supplier with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office particularly understanding of inventory management and production organizational communication and problem-solving to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing QualificationsExperience purchasing raw materials for machining fabrication or metal manufacturing of supply chain management and vendor CPM CPSM or related purchasing certifications are a Were Looking ForProven experience purchasing steel for manufacturing negotiation and supplier relationship management -oriented with excellent organizational to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments.A proactive professional who can anticipate material needs and keep production running is a first-shift opportunity with competitive pay based on experience.
