Job Summary
Shop MechanicF. J. Nugent is seeking an experienced Shop Mechanic for our office located in Longwood are a distributor and manufacturers representative of pumps electrical controls odor control equipment as well as water and wastewater treatment equipment. The company was established in 1996. In addition to the sales of new equipment we also service and repair the products that we sell. We have several offices located throughout Summary:The Shop Mechanic will focus on the inspection repair and testing of pumps and related equipment within the shop environment. This position is responsible for diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues performing repairs and ensuring equipment is restored to proper working condition. This is a hands-on role requiring strong troubleshooting skills and experience working with centrifugal pumps motors and wastewater equipment. The Shop Mechanic will work closely with the service team to support field operations maintain quality standards and ensure timely turnaround of :Diagnose disassemble repair and reassemble centrifugal pumps submersible pumps and related wastewater incoming equipment and determine repair scope parts requirements and labor mechanical repairs including bearings seals impellers shafts and and test electric motors (240V / 480V) and assist with basic electrical performance testing of pumps after repair to ensure proper and interpret pump curves O&M manuals and technical accurate documentation of repairs parts used and with service team on parts ordering and repair a clean organized and safe shop company safety procedures including proper lifting rigging and PPE with occasional field service work or emergency support if continuous improvement of shop processes efficiency and quality and Requirements:Minimum 2 years of mechanical repair experience and/or pump industry experience strongly working on pumps mechanical troubleshooting skills electrical knowledge required including: 1-phase 120/240v 3-phase 240/480vAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics to read pump curves technical documents and O&M manuals with seals bearings and rotating equipment attention to detail and workmanship -starter with ability to work independently and as part of a communication in Microsoft Outlook Excel and to complete computer-based reporting and documentation accurately and on school diploma degree and / or technical school drivers license driving record Test and Background Checks are requiredKey Traits for SuccessHands-on mechanically strongDetail-oriented with pride in workmanshipReliable and accountableSafety-focused mindsetTeam-first attitudeGet along with othersWork Environment & Physical RequirementsPrimarily shop-based with occasional field involves industrial equipment in an active shop environment where noise levels may be higher at serviced can be large and requires proper handling; all work is performed following established safety procedures and provides appropriate training tools and safety equipment to ensure a safe working involves wastewater to lift up to 50 lbs be able to stand bend and work with tools for extended ResponsibilityThis position does not have direct role is primarily shop-based with occasional field support.
