Job Summary

Summary

This position is located at US MintOffice of the Director - Digital Communications Branch. As a Public Affairs Specialist you will plan design develop and disseminate public affairs information and materials to inform and educate the public about bureau programs products and services.


Duties

As a Public Affairs Specialist you will:

  • Plan develop and execute special events for new coin and medal programs and programs highlighting the Mints mission and history.
  • Draft and edit talking points speeches scripts articles press releases event announcements displays and other types of multi-media presentations including PowerPoint consistent with bureau messages and priorities.
  • Use a variety of methods and techniques to achieve communication goals such as personal appearances presentations exhibits newsletters brochures pamphlets social media posts etc.
  • Be responsible for all Social Media content management working alongside other Mint divisions such as Sales and Marketing to develop cohesive consistent messaging.

Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service.     • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
    • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
    • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment at the time requested by the agency.
    • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
    • If you are a male applicant born after December 31 1959 certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
    • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
    • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
    • May be required to file a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
    • May be required to undergo an income tax verification
    • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be able to work all shifts on a rotational basis.

    The experience may have been gained in either the public private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
