Key Responsibilities

The Utah State Hospital is an in-patient psychiatric facility responsible for the total care of our patients while they stay with us. Psychiatric Technicians are part of the nursing department and assist with maintaining a safe secure and therapeutic environment for our patients.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements At minimum the candidate must be able to:

  • pass a background check to work with vulnerable children and adults.
  • work weekends and holidays (shift differentials may apply).
  • attend each day of new employee orientation 8 AM - 5 PM (9 days).

Preferred Qualification:

The preferred candidate for this position is:

  • able to provide the highest quality care to our patients.
  • able to work with patients in a manner of sensitivity tact and professionalism.
  • able to observe the environment monitor changes in safety inappropriate activity or potentially harmful behavioral issues.
  • able to respond appropriately in situations where safety to self patients and others may be compromised.

About the Role

We currently offer full time Time Limited (TL) acuity pool positions. Medical insurance benefits are available and start day one for our full-time employees. Upon completion of training new psychiatric techniciansare invited to transition into a full time benefited (Schedule B) position on a designated unit subject to the needs of the hospital.
