Job Summary

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Project Manager Mechanical & Infrastructure to oversee facility mechanical upgrades infrastructure improvements and capital projects at a large site in Billerica MA.

This position will manage projects throughout the full project lifecycle including planning design contractor coordination construction execution and closeout. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working with mechanical systems MEP projects facility infrastructure and capital improvement projects.

This is a highly client-facing role requiring strong communication organizational and project leadership skills. A Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering background is preferred but a degree is not required for candidates with strong applicable experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage mechanical infrastructure and capital improvement projects from initial planning through completion and closeout.
  • Oversee projects involving significant mechanical equipment and facility systems.
  • Develop and manage project scopes schedules budgets milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate project planning design construction activities commissioning and turnover.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining project timelines and priorities.
  • Coordinate contractors vendors engineers and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with onboarding new contractors and manage relationships with established onsite contractors.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of contractor activities and ensure work is completed according to project requirements.
  • Partner with Facilities Manufacturing Maintenance Quality Engineering and other cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate with Facilities Maintenance to ensure project activities integrate effectively with ongoing facility operations.
  • Support site logistics shutdown planning scheduling equipment access and project readiness.
  • Review engineering drawings specifications scopes of work standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other technical documentation.
  • Coordinate engineering documentation and project records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify project risks scheduling conflicts and potential operational impacts and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Track project progress and provide regular updates to clients and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely on schedule within scope and in accordance with site requirements.
  • Support project closeout activities including documentation training materials turnover packages and final project records.
Required Qualifications
  • 5 years of facilities mechanical experience or comparable experience working with mechanical building systems.
  • Approximately 35 years of project leadership supervisory or project management experience preferred.
  • Strong experience managing projects involving mechanical equipment and facility infrastructure.
  • Experience with MEP-related projects and mechanical system upgrades.
  • Demonstrated understanding of facility mechanical systems and associated construction or maintenance activities.
  • Experience managing contractors vendors and construction activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects schedules priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong client-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings specifications scopes of work and technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering Construction Management Facilities Management or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience managing large capital expenditure (CapEx) projects.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment replacement infrastructure upgrades and facility modernization projects.
  • Experience working within manufacturing industrial pharmaceutical life sciences or other technically complex facilities.
  • Experience coordinating with Manufacturing Facilities Maintenance Quality and Engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with project commissioning equipment turnover and closeout processes.
  • Previous experience overseeing contractors in an active operating facility.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a technically strong Project Manager with significant experience working around mechanical equipment MEP systems and facility infrastructure. This individual should be comfortable managing contractors and capital projects while serving as a primary point of communication between the client facilities team engineering personnel and project stakeholders.

A degree is not required; candidates with substantial hands-on facilities mechanical experience and a proven track record of successfully managing projects are encouraged to apply.
