Job Summary
As a Project Manager you will be responsible for overall project management of medium risk projects or projects that entail federal and/or leasing projects or project groupings.
Location of position: GSA - Public Building Services (PBS) - Office of Program and Project Management (PX)
We are currently filling thirty-four vacancies but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
- Manages and facilitates project budget planning and execution to support each step in development. Establishes evaluation criteria and measurements to assess projects on an ongoing basis. Exercises responsibility for the administration and management of the entire project including the facilitation and control of project planning programming budgeting site selection and acquisition appraisal design and construction contract evaluation technical contract administration etc.
- Identifies manages integrates and/or adapts resources to achieve project goals while effectively managing scope schedule and budget for assigned projects. Manages customer expectations and aligns customer requirements with Public Building Services policies. Manages projects in the General Services Administration Project System (s) of record.
- Prepares schedules for project completion implementing a system for review control and reporting on project status and recommends which phases of the project will be performed in-house or by contract.
- Determines project risk and assesses project activities and resources to mitigate risk on behalf of the government. Implements quality assurance processes to ensure all aspects of the project are handled in a professional manner meet the agreed to customer needs and are in compliance with all contracts let by Public Building Services General Services Administration.
- Negotiates and coordinates project plans budget objectives and schedules with management of affected customer agencies to establish and/or manage customer expectations. Informs customer officials of project status and any requirements for additional agency initiated action. Monitors action in support of project plans and schedules and reports deviations and problems to appropriate General Services Administration and other agency officials.

- Serve a one year probationary period if required.
- Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 2 investigation level).
- Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee. We will use the Department of Homeland Securitys e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment.
- Complete a financial disclosure report to verify that no conflict or an appearance of conflict exists between your financial interest and this position.
- The work is primarily sedentary although there may be some walking or bending involved during construction site visits. Depending upon geographic location of position drivers license may or may not be required
- The work is usually performed in an office setting except for any necessary travel to attend meetings and conferences or conduct on-site inspections. Visits to customer agencies contractors facilities and construction hard hat sites are required. Appropriate safety equipment (e.g. hard hat safety shoes) will be worn during on-site inspections.

The GS-12 salary range starts at $89508 per year. If you are a new federal employee your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as experience utilizing project management practices and tools to simultaneously manage multiple construction and/or repair and alteration projects in a real estate environment. This experience must include:
- Managing projects (balancing scope/quality schedule and budget) requiring the services of multiple disciplines (i.e. construction design IT telecommunications interior furnishings etc.) from project initiation phase through financial closeout;
- Interpreting customer needs and developing them into actionable requirements;
- Developing managing and balancing project plans budgets and schedules; and
- Coordinating and facilitating decisions by managing multiple stakeholders.
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
