Project Geostructural Engineer

GeoEngineers is seeking a Project engineer to join our Construction Design Discipline in Seattle WA Redmond WA or Tacoma WA. As part of our team you will deliver engineering solutions for temporary works and design-build projects including excavation support systems cofferdams access trestles working platforms construction staging falsework and deep foundations. You will work directly with contractors other geotechnical teams and design-build partners to produce practical constructable and efficient designs on some of the most technically demanding projects in the region.

Your work will include structural and geotechnical engineering building a career at the intersection of design and construction. You will contribute to a diverse project portfolio develop technical depth under the mentorship of experienced engineers and grow your project management responsibility while having meaningful ownership of your work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design of geo-structural solutions including excavation support systems ground improvement retaining walls work staging plans access trestles driven piles micropiles and other deep foundations.
• Complete and manage engineering analyses relevant to structural and geotechnical engineering within your area of focus such as steel design (AISC/LRFD) timber design deep foundation design slope stability modeling and ground improvement design (DSM rigid inclusions stone columns DDC) under the supervision of a project principal or associate.
• Development project drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
• Apply strong problem-solving and spatial reasoning to complex site challenges to ensure constructable efficient deliverables.
• Partner with project teams and clients to coordinate design and resolve technical issues.
• Develop project deliverables such as memos calculation packages and reports and complete in-depth reviews of deliverables prepared by others.
• Support project management tasks including budget planning field report reviews project implementation plans proposal development contractor submittals RFIs and participate in client meetings. Manages small projects under the supervision of a certified professional engineer as required.
• Lead or coordinate the observation of field explorations and construction activities ensuring that work is consistent with project plans specifications and safety guidelines.
• Assist in business development and marketing activities to grow our practice.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage day-to-day tasks and commitments to other team members is essential.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university; Masters degree in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering preferred.
• 3 years of related professional experience
• PE license required
• Flexibility in handling diverse project requirements and the ability to work effectively across both geotechnical and structural engineering domains
• Experience with software commonly used in geotechnical and structural design such as MathCAD RISA Tedds Civil 3D Plaxis CLiq CPeT-IT SHAFT APile or the GeoStudio Suite. Familiarity with specialized analysis tools such as SNAIL DeepEX Slope/W L-Pile Group and MSEW is preferreds.
• Experience with driven pile drilled shaft or small-diameter pile/anchor testing
• Valid drivers license

Physical Requirements

• All candidates are subject to completing background and reference checks.
• All candidates are required to participate in our medical surveillance program.
• Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities and do heavy work including exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion.
• Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged sitting and view of a monitor/screen.
• Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed. Travel will typically not exceed 20%.
• All employees are responsible for conducting their work in a safe manner. This includes identifying potential safety hazards and reporting them to the designated project manager in a timely manner and participating in project safety briefings. This also includes wearing appropriate safety equipment when working in the field and completing all required health & safety training prior to beginning fieldwork.

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Seattle WA and Redmond WA is $92000 - $130000 annually. Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Tacoma WA is $89000 - $126000 annually. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors including education and experience as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering subject to program eligibility requirements.
