As a Data Center Project Engineer you will be a part of a creative diverse team tasked with solving fascinating problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry examples of energy efficient cost-effective designs. You will work alongside partner teams such as Operations Networking Controls Security and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly support our Customers.
As our Data Center Project Engineer you will support the teams that build some of the most interesting electrical and mechanical systems in the world. You will be on the construction site daily interacting with the construction managers and stakeholders and be directly responsible for supporting the fast high-quality delivery of our data center construction. The Data Center Project Engineer will be part of the onsite Construction Management team and will own the communication coordination with our vendors information workflow and coordination of document management including requests for information (RFI) change orders report and schedule updates.

Key job responsibilities
The Data Center Project Engineer will be responsible for:
- Establishing communication and coordination across a data center regions general contractors stakeholders and internal teams. Example includes sending out region wide changes to construction trailer setup or location to access documents.
- Develop and maintain a tracking system for design changes RFIs (requests for information) and change orders and dashboard and track this information for regional leadership review. Include tracking status of priority and due dates.
- Requesting and reviewing MOPs (Method of Procedure) for proper detail necessity and risk.
- On-boarding new vendors for badging and orientation.
- Updating project management software with milestone dates correspondence and documents.
- Monitor delivery of owner furnished material to site.
- Compiling and storing construction data from vendors.
- Managing checklist including various checklists including substantial completion checks safety and quality.
A day in the life
Your morning starts on-site checking OFCI delivery status reviewing open submittals and walking the building with your Construction Manager and general contractor. Youll coordinate with commissioning design procurement and security teams to keep your workstreams moving. Afternoons might include updating punchlist trackers preparing documentation packages for upcoming milestones or onboarding new vendors. Every day is different some days youre in the field resolving a staging conflict other days youre driving a submittal to approval before it holds up schedule. Youll see the direct impact of your work as buildings come online.
About the team
The AMER Northeast Construction team delivers large-scale data center builds across the eastern United States. As a Project Engineer youll support construction delivery on a multi-building campus coordinating equipment deliveries managing submittals and documentation and working alongside Construction Managers general contractors and cross-functional partners (commissioning design procurement security) to bring buildings online safely and on schedule. We value ownership attention to detail and teammates who communicate proactively. Youll work on-site in a fast-paced environment where no two days look the same.
- Bachelors degree in enginnering or equivalent
- 3 years of construction or project management experience
- 2 years of vendor management experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook Word and Excel
- Experience creating process documentation
- Experience in construction or experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment
- Experience managing large-scale projects from end to end
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training
- Experience with Procore PlanGrid or equivalent construction project management software
- Experience with OFCI or owner-furnished equipment coordination and delivery tracking
- Experience reading and interpreting construction schedules (P6/Primavera or equivalent)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
