Project Coordinator (OLPPP)

Heluna Health and the Occupational Health Branch (OHB) of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) are seeking a Project Coordinator to join the Occupational Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (OLPPP). The Project Coordinator will provide essential programmatic and administrative support to OLPPP.

OLPPP is a multidisciplinary team that includes epidemiologists research assistants health educators and industrial hygienists. The Programs mission is to prevent occupational lead poisoning through surveillance investigations outreach and education. The Project Coordinator will support the OLPPP Chief and team members with tracking coordinating and managing a wide range of program activities.

The hourly range for this position $35.00-$50.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Essential Functions

• Provide broad programmatic and administrative support to OLPPP
• Assist with daily operations of OLPPPs blood lead level (BLL) surveillance system including:
  • Importing BLL patient records
  • Researching missing patient information
  • Entering patient employer laboratory and related data into a database
  • Participating in data cleaning tasks
  • Tracking laboratory compliance
  • Entering information for newly onboarded laboratories
  • Mailing monthly notification and education packets to workers with elevated BLLs
• Process fee waiver applications from lead-using employers
• Develop written documentation of OLPPP protocols and procedures
• Attend and help facilitate meetings including taking notes
• Occasionally assist with training or participate in site visits
• Manage special projects assigned by the OLPPP Chief
• Contribute to Branch-wide activities such as Show and Tell the OHB Safety Committee and other initiatives as needed

• Highly self-motivated and enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong organizational and writing skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and work independently.
• Completes assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and by phone with diverse disciplines and staff roles/positions.
• Ability to be reliable adaptable and flexible.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.

Education/Experience

• Bachelors Degree required; A degree in public health or other relevant field is preferred.
• Five years of experience in occupational health preferred.

Other Skills Knowledge and Abilities

• Knowledge of and skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word Excel Outlook Teams and Power Point required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
