Main Purpose of Job
The individual in this position leads coordinates and facilitates teams and team members in providing excellent care using the recovery model as defined by appropriate metrics and emphasizing integrity compassion competency and teamwork.

The Program Leader directly supervises the eight psychiatrists of the building. This involves carrying out the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) process as described in the Medical Staff policies. The program leader will review the team physicians Individualized Plan of Care (IPOCs) in the medical record to assure that appropriate problems have been developed and that SMART goals (Specific Measurable Attainable Reasonable Time Limited) have been identified. The program leader will review Progress Note for each psychiatrist at least bimonthly per the OPPE policy. The program leader will visit one team meeting a month in addition to the Length of Stay meeting to assess Team Dynamics and to observe the teams IPOC process including identification and operationalization of signature risk signs. The individual will attend each Teams monthly Length of Stay (LOS) meeting to comment on complex patients and assure adherence to recommendations from previous LOS meetings. The individual will provide clinical supervision to the psychiatrists regarding complicated cases.

The program leader should ensure that physician absences do not overlap and should assure that physicians records are closed when they leave on vacation. The program leader does not supervise or manage the Salomon provider or their schedule though that provider may exchange coverage with the Salomon psychiatrists as a matter of professional courtesy.

The program leader will work collaboratively with the Admissions department by reviewing referrals and assigning new admissions to the appropriate unit. The program leader will also be responsible for assigning patients for transfer within the building as needed.

The program leader will be in close communication with the other Program Leaders Clinical Director and Associate Clinical Director to assess transfers into the Salomon program. With the assistance of hospital data analyst and appropriate clinical staff the program leader will accumulate data to evaluate attainment of Performance Improvement (PI) goals for the program as a whole. At the same time as part of individual supervision the program leader will assist physicians in developing Pl projects for their units related to the medical staff.

The Program Leader must be a credentialed member of the medical staff and serve on committees as assigned by the clinical director and serve on committees in an ex-officio role.

The Program Leader may be required to act in the role of an ad hoc unit director or unit psychiatrist whether in Salomon or in another this role they may be required to lead team meetings lead other psychiatrists and manage patients. This will necessarily involve admitting discharging and transferring patients along with appropriate completion of all the attendant paperwork per hospital policy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Physicians under the licensing requirements for Physicians.

Experience: As required for certification in Psychiatry by the American Medical Association Specialty Board or other Board approved by the Maryland Board of Physicians.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Applicants for this classification must be board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Medical Specialties or other Board approved by theMaryland Board of Physicians.

2. Applicants for this classification must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of a current Maryland medical license and board certification should be attached to the application.
