Job Summary

Reports to: Instructional Officer for Elementary ESL/Bilingual

Duty Days: 197 Days

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: Instructional 01

Funding Source: Title III Immigrant

Qualifications:

Masters Degree preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate or license

Ability to work with school community and English Learner (EL) population

Ability to disaggregate and analyze academic data

Knowledge of state and federal laws concerning bilingual programs

Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work with teachers who service English Learners ELs

Training and/or certification in identifying and working with bilingual students

Experience in second language acquisition and bilingual strategies

Experience in curriculum development

Primary Purpose:

The Program Facilitator for Immigrant Students will provide leadership in the coordination and delivery of services to EL teachers and students. This individual will also provide training to bilingual teachers to ensure that course content is comprehensible and accessible to EL students.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work directly with bilingual teachers to provide supplemental support in the core areas integrating language and content objectives.
  2. Respond to campus requests to support EL students in academic areas.
  3. Model instructional strategies and lessons for bilingual teachers who service ELs.
  4. Implement objectives stated in Title III grant.
  5. Analyze bilingual test data annually to enhance ELstudent performance.
  6. Plan facilitate present and evaluate staff development for teachers and paraprofessionals who service ELs in order to fulfill the Title III professional development requirements.
  7. Present research-based instructional strategies to content area teachers.
  8. Monitor and assist with elementary ESL Extended Day campus programs to ensure successful implementation.
  9. Work with Instructional Officer for Bilingual Education in the development of curriculum and appropriate teaching strategies to meet the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) objectives.
  10. Monitor and provide assistance to teachers during the Katy Summer Academic Term.
  11. Coordinate distribute and collect supplemental resources used for the Katy Summer Academic Term.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Integrated/Coordinated Duties Required for Stipend:

  1. Review and submit recommendations for aligned materials and supplemental resources for ELs and/or immigrant students.
  2. Assist with the coordination and implementation of extended day/year programs as appropriate.
  3. Monitor extended day campus programs and report academic results.
  4. Coordinate plan and assist with Extended Day and Science Academy programs.
  5. Provide professional development to teachers of ELL students outside regular contract hours.

Equipment Used:

Interactive white board computer printer copier overhead projector DVD/VCR and other emerging technologies which are particularly unique to the teaching assignment. Instructional and productivity software as required by the assignment.

Working Conditions:

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; participate in regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations and moderate lifting and carrying.
