This position has responsibility for the safe reliable efficient operation and maintenance of Airgas Merchant Gas (AMG) production facilities. The Plant Operator is responsible for safety keeping production equipment in operating condition maintaining plant production (in collaboration with ROCC) operating efficiency (in collaboration with ROCC) and regulatory and quality compliance.

  • Apply your understanding of plant safety rules regulations and company safety policies/procedures to protect the team.

  • Work safely and conscientiously in all situations.

  • Identify potential maintenance needs; enter them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo) to ensure ongoing reliability.

  • Perform all work in alignment with standard operating and maintenance procedures utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements including safe work permits energy control isolation and IDLs confined space entry work hot work work plans pre-job discussions plant safety inspections etc.

  • Ideally you will grow your knowledge and ability in all plant operations including processes and equipment.

  • Bring an interest in instrumentation and mechanical systems.

  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) corporate procedures; read and interpret blueprints flow charts process piping ISOs simple schematics P&IDs electrical schematics; perform basic math operations.

  • Keep accurate records and remain diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures.

  • Apply your knowledge and understanding of control board and operator interface computer consoles.

  • Perform operator rounds water samples truck loading and operations PMs.

  • Contribute to and promote high housekeeping and organizational standards.

  • Support additional team needs as requested by Plant Management.

  • All other duties based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Not Afriad of Heights

  • Work in all Weather Condidtions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Associates degree preferred

  • 2 years of technical training or operations experience

  • Mechanically Inclinded

  • Knowledge/understandingof instrumentation rotating equipment and piping systems

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management EPA regulations FDA regulations state/local regulations)

  • Knowledge in the proper methods of locking out and isolating equipment

  • Ability to use computers-knowledge of Microsoft Office software

  • Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self motivated attitude

  • Good verbal/written communication skills in order to deal effectively with management and external customers

  • Qualified in operation of the forklift man lift and overhead crane is preferred

  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
