When will I work
- Night Shift The primary work hours for this position are 4:30pm to 3:00am Monday through Thursday with overtime required as needed.
Where is this opportunity located
Position located in Brookings SD in our HSPR manufacturing department.
What will the work look like for me
- Lead employees that work in areas in Sub Assembly 9 wire Consoles Shell Assembly and Shot Clock. Employees that work on the Night shift are full-time temporary evenings (4:30p-9:30p) and seasonal during the summer. You will work with employees that work various hours that vary during the college semesters.
- Ensure safety policies/procedures are followed help identify and eliminate hazards respond to and investigate incidents implement countermeasures to prevent injuries.
- Oversee production in the control assembly area: plan and execute production create goals and measure actual results monitor quality and address recurring issues give daily work direction to employees.
- Foster teamwork through effective communication to direct reports support personnel and factory leadership/management.
- Observe and evaluate employee performance provide feedback to employees on performance develop employees through training and coaching motivate employees to perform well and discipline employees if necessary.
- Assist in determining staffing and equipment needs of area.
- Assist in interviewing hiring and training new employees.
- Utilize lean tools and concepts to run and improve business:
- Lean management system: standard work visual controls tier meetings daily accountability.
- Continuous improvement: 5S idea program daily kaizen/Gemba walks PDCA.
- Become skilled in new and existing production processes and procedures:
- Perform value adding production work approximately 50% of time depending on customer demand and other responsibilities.
- Train employees on new and existing production processes and procedures.
- Become knowledgeable to and follow company procedures.
- Work effectively as a team member work with little supervision help when and where needed and communicate effectively with customers and team members. Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned and needed to meet customer and/or department expectations.
- Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Safety equipment may include the following: safety glasses safety shoes/boots hearing protection electrostatic discharge wear and others as determined necessary by Daktronics Risk and Safety Department
To be considered for Production Lead Position we require the following:
- High school diploma required. Additional post-secondary education is preferred.
- Training and supervision experience preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Computer software skills: Glovia SharePoint and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
- Must be self-motivated and goal orientated.
- Have ability to work a flexible schedule including overtime.
- Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- The selected individual must be able to travel by air and ground and comply with the Daktronics Driver Eligibility Policy to begin and maintain employment. This requirement will be verified through a motor vehicle record (MVR) check conducted in accordance with applicable federal state provincial and local laws.
- Physical requirements include the ability to:
- Work in an environment with these types of smells: paint solvent and solder.
- Frequently lift 35 lbs. Occasionally to frequently lift 45 some work areas.
- Stand for the full shift with planned breaks. The duration of standing between breaks varies from 2-3 ½ hours depending on work area.
- Work from heights including working from ladders and platforms.
- Reach in all directions (up down side-to-side and diagonal reaching) including some awkward reaching to insert components in difficult to reach sections of the product.
- Maintain steady hand/eye coordination.
- Identify wire and paint colors.
- Read fine print.
- Fluent in English written and verbal.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
