The Production Engineer is responsible for maximizing production improving reliability minimizing downtime and increasing the economic value of Crescent Energys producing assets. This role provides technical ownership of producing wells and works closely with field operations and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities diagnose performance issues prioritize investments and execute solutions.

Successful candidates will combine strong engineering fundamentals with operational judgment economic decision-making and data-driven problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

Production Optimization & Surveillance

  • Own production performance and surveillance for an assigned portfolio of wells identifying downtime degradation and optimization opportunities.

  • Develop and improve scalable surveillance dashboards and exception-based workflows that focus attention on the highest-value opportunities.

  • Diagnose production losses and recommend technically sound economically justified actions to restore or increase production.

  • Partner with reservoir engineering to evaluate well performance support forecasting and identify proactive intervention opportunities.

Well Operations & Artificial Lift

  • Plan and execute well interventions including scopes of work AFEs cost estimates and well programs for workovers repairs artificial lift changes and production-enhancement activities.

  • Design troubleshoot and optimize artificial lift systems including rod lift gas lift ESPs plunger lift or other applicable methods.

  • Evaluate equipment and well failures identify root causes and implement changes that improve reliability and run life.

  • Work closely with field operations throughout planning execution and post-job evaluation.

Economics Cost & Continuous Improvement

  • Prioritize opportunities based on production impact cost risk reliability and expected economic return.

  • Track and understand LOE and capital expenditures identify material variances and recommend corrective actions.

  • Use production failure cost and operational data to identify recurring trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Develop and share best practices standards and lessons learned across the organization.

Collaboration HSE & Communication

  • Collaborate with reservoir geology completions drilling facilities automation and operations teams to maximize asset value.

  • Support new-well startup flowback and early-time production optimization.

  • Incorporate safety environmental stewardship regulatory compliance and operational risk into engineering decisions.

  • Clearly communicate recommendations assumptions risks and expected value to technical teams and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

  • 5 years of relevant upstream oil and gas engineering experience.

  • Strong understanding of production optimization artificial lift well interventions and producing-well diagnostics.

  • Ability to analyze operational data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical alternatives using economics risk and production impact.

  • Strong communication collaboration problem-solving and organizational skills.

  • Unconventional or high-well-count production experience preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This position combines office-based engineering and data analysis with regular interaction with field operations. Field travel is expected based on operating activity and project needs.
