Product Testing Technician

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Performs a wide variety of tests on refinery process samples and finished products per established procedures

• Test methods vary from simple methods such as density/gravity color and viscosity to more complex methods such as knock (octane) testing automatic distillation and titration gas chromatography etc.

• Is required to learn and perform approximately 180 different tests following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that comply with ASTM CARB EPA or in-house testing methods.

• Utilizes standard Quality Control / Quality Assurance processes to ensure accuracy and precision of results

• Validates data performs calculations and reports test results

• Strong problem-solving skills. Identifies risks and takes action to eliminate.

• Excellent planning and organizational skills

• Job necessitates driving on a routine basis

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Bachelors Degree in Natural Science (Chemistry Biology Physics) or Technology (Engineering Computer Science Manufacturing) or 3 years of full analytical laboratory testing experience

• Must possess a Valid California Drivers License

• Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.

• Able to work rotating shifts including weekends holidays and overtime. QCD is a 24/7 operation and Lab Operators are required to work shift work 12-hour shifts typically working 14 out of 28 days per month.

• Good computer skills and problem-solving ability.

• This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with a proven track record in Safety and Reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Natural Science (Chemistry Biology Physics) or Technology (Engineering Computer Science Manufacturing)

• 10 years Laboratory testing experience

• Refinery/Chemical Plant Process Operations.

• Knowledge of refinery test methods (e.g. ASTM methods for: GC AA IC XRF elemental analysis and wet chemistry)

• Understands Statistical Process Control (SPC)

• Demonstrated ability to consult on analytical instrumentation and test methods including method development and equipment/instrumentation purchase and repair

• Knowledge and understanding of refinery processes

• Experience with chemometric modeling and analysis.

• The anticipated hourly wage can make up to USD $41.65 - 54.18. The selected candidates compensation will be determined based on their skills experience and qualifications.
