Job Summary
Summary
The Quality Engineer supports day-to-day quality assurance and continuous improvement activities at the assigned MBI brand/plant location ensuring products meet Malibu Boats quality performance and safety standards. This role partners with Production Engineering and Supplier Quality to identify contain and eliminate defects; supports new product introduction; and drives structured problem solving to reduce scrap rework and warranty cost.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Engineering & Problem Solving
- Analyze quality data (scrap rework DPU warranty) to identify top defect drivers and lead root cause problem solving (8D 5-Why A3 Fishbone).
- Develop and maintain Criteria for Acceptance documents control plans and inspection standards for assigned product lines/stations.
- Lead containment and corrective action activities for in-process and field quality issues verifying effectiveness.
In-Process & Incoming Quality
- Support and audit in-process inspection and layered process audits across assigned production areas.
- Partner with Supplier Quality on incoming material issues affecting the production line.
- Support material review board (MRB) and disposition of nonconforming material.
New Product Introduction
- Support new product/model launches by developing test and inspection methods and participating in design and process reviews.
- Support APQP/PFMEA activities for new products and engineering changes as needed.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
- Support the plants COPQ reduction and continuous improvement priorities in partnership with the CI Site/Brand Lead.
- Maintain and report quality KPIs (FPY DPU scrap rework hours) to plant and brand leadership.
- Participate in daily Gemba/tiered accountability meetings.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Quality Manufacturing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-5 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing engineering role
- working knowledge of root cause analysis tools inspection methods and quality documentation (control plans CFAs FMEAs)
Preferred
- Experience in marine automotive RV or other high-mix/custom manufacturing
- Six Sigma Green Belt or working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma tools
- familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems

- Hands-on role with significant presence on the manufacturing floor.
- Exposure to various settings - fiberglass finishing and assembly operations.

- Overtime is occasional to frequent based on a number of factors.
- Required to work indoors and outdoors year-round and in all weather conditions.
- May be required to work during production shutdowns or other off schedule periods to conduct special activities.
