Principal Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer or Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer in Annapolis MD for a one year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position supports concept development problem solving technical planning design development and integration and testing of undersea hardware. The engineer will translate customer requirements into systems solutions while considering technical schedule and cost constraints.
Required Skills
- BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical Aerospace Ocean Engineering or equivalent STEM) and 5 years of experience or MS degree with 3 years of experience for Principal level.
- BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical Aerospace Ocean Engineering or equivalent STEM) and 8 years of experience or MS degree with 6 years of experience or PhD with 4 years of experience for Senior Principal level.
- Proficiency using common engineering design production analysis and office tools.
- Demonstrated experience in hardware design.
- Understanding of design for manufacturing practices.
- Experience developing engineering processes procedures and documentation for manufacturing.
- Understanding of engineerings role in supporting small to medium production quantities.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work on site at the Annapolis MD campus.
- Current/active U.S. Government Secret clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI with CI polygraph.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects being developed and deployed simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experience with undersea vehicle and system design.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with CI poly.
