PositionSummary:
TheContinuous CompositeEngineering Teamis seeking a PrincipalMaterialsEngineer to support in-houseeffortsto develop High Temperature Compositesfor real world applications.
In this roleyouwilllead the MaterialsTeam to develop and define themethod to create Ceramic Matrix Composites(CMCs)leveragingourContinuous Fiber (CF3D)Printingtechnology.You willownthe entire process frompreformdevelopment to densification and have a team to support this effort.
The ideal candidatewill have experience developing densified CMCs(C/C C/SiC C/C-SiC)from scratch through a variety of methods (PIP CVI MI) and will be comfortable taking a methodologicalapproach to develop test verify andvalidatetheir approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadthe Materials Team at Continuous Composites to createCMCsfrom proof of concept to productionfor real world applicationsi.e.thermal protection systems for aerospace.
- Owntheresearch anddevelopmentofCMCsto generate preformsand process them into a final densified part.
- Collaboratewith cross-functional teams(engineering operations business)as well as vendors and research institutionsto execute multi-year development plans.
PreferredQualifications:
- Masters degree or PHDinchemicalmaterials or manufacturingengineering
- 5 years of experiencein composites engineering with a strong focus on high-temperature materials (e.g. carbon-carbon ceramic matrix composites refractory metalsfiber layoutPIP & CVI densification optimization ofpyrolysis cycles).
- Proventrack recordinownership optimization andleading R&D projects
- Experience with material characterization techniques(thermalmechanical microstructural etc.).
- Excellent communication and technical writing skillsforproposaldevelopment report writing and presentations.
- Ability to work independently and mentor junior team members.
- Strong backgroundinstatisticsand problem-solvingtechniques.
