Baker Tilly is seeking a Principal to help grow our Office of the CFO (OCFO) Advisory practice. This role is designed for an experienced advisor auditor consultant or finance leader who combines a deep understanding of high-performing finance organizations and how the role of the Office of the CFO is evolving in response to growth complexity and rising stakeholder expectations with a proven ability to develop business drive growth build client relationships and lead high-performing teams.
Our OCFO Advisory practice partners with CFOs finance leaders private equity sponsors and portfolio company executives to strengthen finance organizations enhance the effectiveness of accounting and finance leadership and build the organizational capabilities required to support growth. Clients rely on us to modernize and elevate the Office of the CFO improve reporting and decision support navigate critical business events and position finance organizations to operate more strategically and at greater scale. We support clients across the business lifecycle including periods of rapid growth acquisitions divestitures integrations finance transformation initiatives capital raises and other strategic transactions.
As a Principal you will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership teams while helping shape the future growth of the practice. You will work closely with firm leadership to expand market presence deepen client relationships develop talent and deliver meaningful outcomes for our clients.

What You Will Do:
- Lead and oversee Office of the CFO engagements across a variety of industries and business environments.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs finance leaders private equity firms and portfolio company management teams.
- Lead projects involving finance transformation process improvement financial reporting modernization technical accounting and systems enablement.
- Advise clients through acquisitions divestitures carve-outs integrations and other strategic transactions.
- Support transaction-related activities including financial due diligence readiness accounting assessments integration planning and post-close execution.
- Help clients design build and scale high-performing finance organizations capable of supporting growth increasing complexity and evolving stakeholder expectations.
- Lead client engagements involving technical accounting financial reporting SEC reporting and IPO readiness when needed.
- Deliver insights and recommendations that improve financial performance operational effectiveness and decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to expand relationships and deliver additional value across Baker Tillys advisory platform.
- Develop and execute business development strategies to drive revenue growth expand client relationships and increase market presence.
- Build relationships with private equity sponsors investment professionals attorneys lenders and other referral sources.
- Lead cross-functional engagement teams while ensuring exceptional client service and successful project execution.
- Mentor coach and develop team members fostering a culture of collaboration continuous learning and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- CPA preferred; CFA MBA or other relevant credentials are a plus.
- 15 years of experience across audit accounting advisory consulting transaction advisory and/or Office of the CFO services.
- Demonstrated success developing executive-level relationships and originating advisory opportunities with private equity sponsors and portfolio companies business owners CFOs and finance leaders. Experience supporting clients through acquisitions integrations finance transformation initiatives and value creation programs.
- Strong knowledge of finance organizations controllership financial reporting finance transformation and accounting operations.
- Experience with SEC reporting IPO readiness or public company environments is a plus.
- Proven success developing selling and growing advisory services.
- Strong leadership relationship management communication and project management skills.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels while delivering exceptional client service.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a proven leader from audit accounting advisory consulting or other client-service environments or a finance executive with meaningful advisory or consulting experience who has built trusted relationships with CFOs finance leaders and business executives and has a demonstrated track record of developing business and driving growth. They bring a deep understanding of high-performing finance organizations and the evolving role of the Office of the CFO along with experience leading advisory consulting or other client-facing engagements. They have the ability to lead client engagements mentor teams and expand advisory relationships. They are comfortable advising executive leadership teams helping organizations navigate growth and transformation and delivering meaningful outcomes across complex accounting and finance initiatives.
