Preventive Non-Licensed Supervisor

PURPOSE:The purpose of the Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) Supervisor in the Preventive Service Department is to support staff in their implementation of the BSFT model with family with child(ren) between the ages of 6 to 17 years old who present with various behavioral problems including school truancy substance use conduct problems and delinquency. The Preventive Services Department provides child welfare services using Evidence Based models to ensure that families are able to provide safe environments for their children keep children safe in their homes and reduce the need for foster care. Prevention is an essential part of the child welfare continuum and requires a commitment to the wellbeing of all members of a client family. All services are provided in a familys home and community. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Social Worker Supervisor has full responsibility for the on-going clinical guidance of the clinical/case planner staff members. The Supervisor also provides on-going training and supervision to the clinical staff. The Supervisor may be called upon to perform any of the line functions normally performed by a social worker/case planner and is expected to be fully proficient in those areas. The Supervisor is familiar with all Preventive Service and Child Welfare Standards and functions as an internal resource on such ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provides regularly scheduled weekly supervision to all clinical/case planning staff appropriateness of service plans (FASPs) and approves these based upon an understanding of any safety/risk concerns in the family and the service needs of the children and parents. Facilitates weekly clinical case conference as well as Family Team ConferencesCompletes job performance evaluations and provides professional development support on a regular basis. May supervise student for intake on new frequent and appropriate feedback to program stakeholders including ACS Child ProtectionUnderstand ACS/OCFS electronic systems including PROMIS and CNNXProvides all necessary notes progress notes other paperwork as required by ACS and JBFCS including entering monthly supervisory notes in CNNX for CWS cases and in the case record for ADVPO to the fidelity of the model. Work within the models structure regarding length of treatment case contacts interventions supervision and documentation in the OCFS and ACS Database System (PROMIS and CNNX)Collaborate with child welfare and follow ACS guidelines for preventive services in particular the safety and risk in all BSFT MODEL training supervision and consultation activitiesWork a hybrid schedule based on program needsComfortable with group supervision and commitment to work on professional development goals to improve adherenceWork a flexible schedule to meet the needs of familiesOutreach to generate referrals for programWork with a team to meet client program and division needsAdditional tasks as assignedCover for Director in his/her absence CORE COMPETENCIES for the position include:Basic social work knowledge and understanding of stages of changeAbility to provide in home therapy and child welfare services Ability to establish a strong therapeutic relationship with of the use of family therapy principals to provide servicesUnderstanding of early childhood development and related theories and models of practiceStrong Assessment skills to evaluate dynamics and interactions within the family Ability to Implement strategies to improve family communication and supportEDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED:Masters degree in Social Work Psychology Mental Health Counseling Marriage and Family Therapy Creative Arts Therapy or a related subject REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:A minimum of three years of related experience in Child Welfare and/or Family experience with specific client population or specialty (domestic violence substance abuse community outreach etc.) is preferred. Bilingual/Bicultural preferredCOMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of Microsoft office requiredKnowledge and experience with the Connections system preferredVISUAL AND MANUAL DEXIERITY:Be able to read documents for analytical purposes such as computer information software computer graphic design programs applications of manual dexterity and hand-eye ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT:To perform the essential functions of this job the candidate must be able to travel within New York City carrying equipment such as a notebook forms laptop mobile hotspot and cell phone weighing up to approximately 10 associated with the position are those which may be encountered travelling around New York City and interfacing with clients experiencing an acute mental health crisis or serious emotional is currently hybrid but can become 100% in person based on program need.
