Reports to: Production Supervisor

About this role
The Press Operator in Training (O.I.T) is a hands-on role responsible for learning magnet pressoperations while ensuring safety quality and consistent production output. This positionserves as a role to grow into an advanced operator role supporting the qualified operatorsand Production Supervisor by providing daily operational assistance learningtroubleshooting and diagnostics and ensuring adherence to safety quality and productionstandards.

What Youll Be Doing:
Press Operations & Technical Foundations
Learn and assist in the setting up operating and optimizing magnet press equipment including die alignment pressure settings and cycle times to meet required magnetproperties.
Developing a foundational understanding of press operation powder handling andcompaction processes.
Learning to monitor and identify issues such as uneven powder distribution pressurefluctuations or equipment malfunctions.
Teamwork & Training
Receiving work priorities and daily direction from the shift lead or supervisor.
Participating actively in training coaching and mentoring from senior PressOperators on standard work safety requirements quality expectations andtroubleshooting techniques.
Focusing on skill development and mastering standard manufacturing work.
Communicating effectively with Operators Team Lead Production SupervisorsQuality Engineering and Maintenance to address issues and maintain productionflow.
Quality & Troubleshooting
Learning to inspect pressed magnets for size shape density and magnetic strengthto ensure compliance with quality standards.
Developing skills to make basic machine adjustments to maintain consistent qualityand reduce scrap.
Learning to diagnose/report common and complex press issues including jamsmisaligned dies and pressure inconsistencies; escalate as needed.
Maintenance & Documentation
Performing routine and preventive maintenance including cleaning lubrication andinspection of press components.
Assisting Operators in the identifying wear or potential failures and coordinatingtimely repairs with Maintenance.
Maintaining accurate production and quality records including batch numberspressures cycle times and inspection results.
Safety & Housekeeping
Modeling and enforcing adherence to all safety protocols including PPE requirementsand lockout/tagout procedures.
Maintaining a clean organized and audit-ready press area.
Promoting a strong safety culture and proactively addressing unsafe conditions orbehaviors.
We are looking for someone who:
  • Has a High School Diploma or GED required.
    Has 1 year of manufacturing experience including press operation or similar precisionequipment.
    Can exhibit a strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operationprinciples.
    Can read and interpret work instructions technical specifications and qualityrequirements.
    If proficient in basic math related to measurements pressures and productionquantities.
    Has a strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain consistent quality standardsin a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening medical physical and any required vision testing.
    Able to move up to 50lbs.
    Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
    Can wear PPE.
    Comfortable standing for long periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
    Is capable of making repetitive movements including but not limited to sittingsquatting and walking up and down stairs.
