VIP Systemsis a premier South Florida-based systems integrator specializing in high-end large-scale technology infrastructure for luxury high-rise and residential developments. We bridge the gap between architectural vision and technical reality designing and deploying sophisticated low-voltage systems including structured cabling and enterprise-grade security.
Position Overview
We are looking for aPre-Construction Engineerwho is equally comfortable with a blueprint and a spreadsheet. This is a hybrid role that blendsTechnical Design (Engineering)withCost Analysis (Estimating).
You will be responsible for the "technical birth" of a projecttaking raw architectural plans and turning them into fully engineered cost-accurate bids. You wont just count devices; you will design the system architecture identify scope gaps and ensure that our solutions are both buildable and profitable.
Core Responsibilities
System Design & Engineering:Develop comprehensive system architectures for structured cabling CCTV and Access Control. Create and review riser diagrams to ensure technical viability.
Detailed Estimating:Perform digital take-offs usingBluebeamor similar tools. Build accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and labor estimates for multi-million dollar scopes.
Value Engineering (VE):Analyze specifications to identify cost-saving alternatives that maintain system integrity while increasing our competitive edge.
Scope Gap Analysis:Review MEP and Architectural drawings to catch missing infrastructure (conduits power requirements rack space) before the bid is submitted.
RFP & Bid Management:Lead the technical response for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) ensuring all technical narratives and compliance requirements are met.
Trade Coordination:Interface with General Contractors (GCs) and Electrical Contractors during the pre-con phase to coordinate pathways and device placement.
Project Handoff:Once a job is won provide a clean "engineering package" to the Project Management team to ensure a seamless transition from bid to build.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Experience:35 years in theLow Voltage / Systems Integrationindustry specifically in a design or estimating capacity.
Technical Proficiency:Expert-level mastery ofBluebeam Revufor take-offs and redlining.
Strong understanding ofAutoCAD(Revit experience is a major plus).
Deep knowledge of low-voltage systems (Cat6 standards fiber optics IP-based security and MDF/IDF room design).
Blueprint Literacy:Ability to read and interpret complex architectural electrical and structural plan sets.
Analytical Mindset:Advanced Excel skills for building complex pricing models and labor calculators.
Communication:Ability to explain technical engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders (Developers/Owners).
