Overview

Anne Arundel Dermatology is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to oversee the operations of multiple dermatology offices across the Hampton Roads and Southeastern Virginia region. This position will manage the following locations: Norfolk Virginia Beach Suffolk & Newport News.

This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence across multiple locations by managing medical office operations leading clinical and administrative teams improving patient satisfaction ensuring regulatory compliance and partnering with physicians to support continued practice growth.

Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of one primary office and multiple satellite locations throughout Southern Virginia.
  • Provide leadership coaching and performance management for front office clinical and administrative staff.
  • Recruit interview onboard train and develop employees while fostering a positive collaborative culture.
  • Partner with physicians and executive leadership to improve operational performance patient satisfaction and overall practice growth.
  • Monitor provider schedules to maximize patient access provider productivity operational efficiency and clinic productivity.
  • Analyze KPIs and operational metrics to identify opportunities to improve workflow patient experience and financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA OSHA CLIA (when applicable) company policies and all federal state and local regulations.
  • Manage office budgets inventory vendor relationships and purchasing.
  • Resolve patient concerns professionally while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
  • Lead regular staff meetings coaching sessions and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate personnel documentation including I-9 verification and required employment records.
  • Oversee daily administrative functions including scheduling billing coordination revenue cycle support and practice operations.
  • Assist with front desk or clinical operations during periods of high patient volume or staffing shortages.
  • Travel regularly between assigned practice locations to provide operational support and leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with physicians providers staff and patients.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities across several locations.
  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience improving operational workflows and driving process improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare software systems.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) platforms.
  • Thorough understanding of HIPAA and healthcare regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism confidentiality and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% between practice locations.
Licensure/Certifications/Education
Education & Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration Business Administration Public Health Health Information Management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare management or medical practice management experience required.
  • Previous experience managing physician practices outpatient clinics or multi-site healthcare operations preferred.
  • Dermatology experience is highly preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting standing and walking throughout medical office environments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to travel between assigned practice locations.
