Summary

Duties
  • You will inspect troubleshoot repair and maintain generators transfer switches and related electrical systems.
  • You will maintain portable and stationary generators ensuring readiness for emergency response.
  • You will install modify test and repair electrical equipment wiring breakers relays and controls.
  • You will inspect and service mechanical hydraulic pneumatic and fuel systems.
  • You will monitor fuel levels refuel equipment and maintain fuel records.
  • You will comply with OSHA NFPA EPA and environmental regulations while documenting work and maintaining a safe work area.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour including nights weekends and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This position requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle and heavy equipment. You will be required to possess and maintain a valid drivers license and base driving privileges.
  • You will be required to obtain an Arizona Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 12 months of appointment if not already licensed.
Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Performing common tasks including the ability to read and use technical manuals illustrations diagrams and schematics and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used for maintaining troubleshooting and repairing generator equipment automated and manual transfer switches and auxiliary multi-fuel engine systems.
