Postdoctoral Scholar (Mycobacteria pathogenesis and spatial biology)

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scholarwith interests in mycobacterial pathogenesis spatial immunology and global health to join the Sabo and Shah Labs in the University of Washington Division of Allergy & Infectious Diseases. The Sabo Lab is focused on identifying factors that contribute to infectious diseases in mucosal spaces including Mycobacteria leprae the causative agent of Shah lab is focused on pathogenesis of mycobacterial diseases. We perform detailed studies using specimens derived from human samples. This project is focused on developing the most detailed atlas of immune factors in leprosy granulomas conducted to date and will be conducted in a collaborative effort between the Sabo and Shah labs.

The candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to one or more projects learning advanced cellular and molecular biology and anaerobic microbiology techniques.

The candidates day will be split between benchwork to generate data and computer work to generate reports keep records write manuscripts prepare presentations etc. The ideal candidate will have post-graduation research in immunology and have published (or under review) several papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Preference will be given to applicants with coding expertise in R and/or Python to handle large datasets or an interest in developing these skills. The work is highly collaborative so excellent written and oral communication skills are required as is the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities with exceptional organizational and time management skills.

This is a full-time position with a 12 months service period with the possibility for yearly renewal dependent upon performance and continued funding. The base salary range for this position will be: $68460 - $92004 annually ($5705 - $7667 per month) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. We anticipate that the position will begin in Spring-Summer 2026.

The successful candidate must have a PhD or MD degree in Microbiology Pathobiology Immunology or related fields and experience in analysis of large datasets. Bioinformatics training is preferred.
