Summary

You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER in the Force Protection Department of NAVBASE KITSAP SEC DET.


Duties
  • You will defend installation personnel equipment and resources from terrorist threats or hostile attacks.
  • You will detect and responds to threats to restricted areas and detains apprehends applies restraints and transports violators as required.
  • You will conduct vehicle searches inspect packages and personal belongings when admitting personnel into controlled or restricted areas or during increased FPCONs or a specific security incident.
  • You will conduct investigations that are below the current Defense Criminal Investigative Organization or dedicated Investigator/Detective threshold.
  • You will conduct traffic management as required.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and physical agility test (PAT).
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760 Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD) the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born aftermust be registered for Selective Service.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • You will be required to be CPR certified and utilize a portable heart defibrillator where available.
  • May be required to respond to other military installations within the region or off installation events when directed by higher authority to a disaster scene or during a national emergency.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must also successfully complete any annual sustainment training Level 1 Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) contamination training (if applicable) and OC refresher training.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license and 40-hour Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC).
Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education knowledge skills and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of law enforcement procedures regulations and operations to perform routine recurring kinds of fixed post assignments; 2) Preparing police reports concerning incidents and actions taken; 3) Apprehending or detaining personnel by the use of force or police equipment (i.e. firearms taser Oleoresin Capsicum (OS) spray 4) Conducting inspections of vehicle to detect the unauthorized removal of classified material government property contraband weapons explosives or any items detrimental to security.

Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees such as tuition and related fees travel and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour including nights weekends and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation.

Shall be required to be CPR certified and utilize a portable heard defibrillator where available.

Must meet OPM hearing and vision requirement to include distinguishing basic shades of color.

Completion of Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program (UPTP) is a condition of continued employment.

Must successfully pass an annual Physical Agility Test as a condition of continued of employment.

Education

The following education may be substituted for specialized experience:

Successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelors degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position.

OR

A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equals one hundred percent.

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications ( Therefore provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
