Job Summary

Do you love spending time outdoors exploring the woods and enjoying nature Do you want to turn that passion into a career If youre interested in working in the forest identifying and assessing trees and helping support responsible land management this could be the opportunity for you. As a Tree / Pole Marker for Bell Lumber & Pole youll spend your days in the field marking trees collecting forestry data and helping promote safe sustainable forestry practices for the southern and western areas of Arkansas.

As a Tree / Pole Marker you will:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of designated areas to identify trees slated for harvesting.
  • Knowledgeably identify tree species and assess their health and quality for harvest.
  • Clearly mark selected trees for cutting according to prescribed guidelines for both poles and other needs.
  • Ensure accurate mapping of marked trees using GPS or other designated tools.
  • Collaborate with forestry teams to ensure efficient workflow and proper logging of marked trees.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures during all marking activities.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental regulations company policies and forestry standards.
  • Report any safety hazards incidents or violations to the Forestry Supervisor immediately.
  • Record accurate data related to marked trees including species size and condition.
  • Prepare reports on marked trees their locations and any relevant findings.
  • Assist in maintaining comprehensive forestry records for analysis and planning purposes.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of marking tools including paint flags and other equipment.
  • Report any equipment issues or needs to the appropriate supervisor for timely resolution.
  • Support the companys commitment to sustainable forestry practices.
  • Promote conservation efforts and responsible land management in all marking activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:High school diploma or equivalent. Natural Resources or Forestry degree preferred.

Experience:Previous experience in related field preferred.

Other Skills & Requirements:

  • Travel will be required with prolonged sitting in a vehicle for hours at a time.
  • Some overnight travel required.
  • Proficiency in using GPS systems mapping tools and basic computer software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices related to outdoor work environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to sit talk and hear and to use hands to finger handle or feel. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds infrequently lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as an outdoor environment with exposure to elements such as heat cold precipitation wind.
