Playwriting & Performance Instructor for K-12 After School Programs

As a member of our network you will be matched with opportunities to teach Playwriting to K-12 students at schools buildings and communities across Washington DC.

These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeksand all will end in the students performing the play you write as a group. Therefore those with Acting and Musical Writing skills in addition to Playwriting expertise are encouraged to apply!

As an after school instructor youll have the following responsibilities:
Develop age-appropriate Playwriting curriculum for after-school students
Lead weekly in-person classes with enthusiasm and expertise
Establish a well-structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged
Foster a positive supportive and encouraging learning environment for students of varying skill levels
Build connections with students in a warm and inclusive environment
Track student growth and offer positive helpful feedback
Arrive prepared on time and ready to teach
Create a memorable experience for the children in your class

A fun enthusiastic adaptable instructor with experience teaching school aged children and who:

• Has subject matter expertise in Playwriting
• Has additional experience in Acting Musical Theatre or Performance Production
• Has a passion and skill for leading hands-on projects with kids
• Has excitement joy and passion for both teaching kids and personal development/learning
• Knows how to create a fun structured and inclusive classroom environment
• Brings your own voice and creativity to each class you teach
• Is cooperative supportive flexible
• Is dependable proactive and thrives when given autonomy and also appreciates support and clear expectations
