Job Responsibilities:
Position Overview:
Responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure the safe efficient and cost-effective production of products. This role provides leadership to production teams coordinates plant activities and ensures operational goals related to safety quality delivery productivity and cost are achieved. The Plant Superintendent works closely with production maintenance quality engineering and materials departments to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure production schedules and customer requirements are achieved.
- Monitor and improve safety quality productivity and efficiency.
- Supervise and support production supervisors and team leaders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Monitor labor utilization and staffing levels.
- Analyze production performance and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
- Support employee development training and performance management.
- Assist with budget control and operational cost reduction efforts.
- Participate in audits inspections and customer visits.
- Ensure effective communication across all shifts and departments.
- Directly responsible for the supervision and daily activities of the production material and technical team.
- Act as a representative of the company to establish and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with all internal departments.
- Oversee the master schedules with the help of off shift material supervisor(s) and ensure comprehensive compliance with materials requirements for manufacturing.
- Assure on-time and accurate delivery of product to the customer.
- Responsible for maintaining all equipment and coordinating production activities with other departments.
- Manage and provide resources and support for continuous improvement activities as they relate to manufacturing processes safety product quality and all other functions.
- Provide problem solving leadership.
- Responsible for ensuring that all necessary departments are kept informed when circumstances warrant such action.
- Responsible for maintaining positive employee relations including fostering an open communications climate effective resolution of employee concerns and consistent application of company policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
To perform this job successfully; an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Special Knowledge:
- Bachelors degree in engineering Manufacturing Operations Management Business Administration or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience may be considered.
- Experience managing production teams and meeting operational targets.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in Production Management and Materials Management preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience required
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills as well as strong organization skills
- Personal computer skills
- Understanding of manufacturing assembly sequencing and equipment principles
Special Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of manufacturing and production operations.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of safety rules and procedures.
- Understanding of quality standards and continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage production schedules and meet deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance and equipment operations.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience coaching training and developing employees.
