About the role
This is a Castrol requisition and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence ahead of the Castrol divestment later in 2026. From the point of the divestment you will be employed fully by Castrol and no longer be a bp employee.
The Plant Manager leads the Baton Rouge manufacturing facility the largest lubricant blending operation in the Americas region with full accountability for safety regulatory compliance operational performance product quality service cost and workforce leadership. The role also oversees connected warehouse operations bulk transfer activities and supports contract manufacturing within the regional supply network.
The long-term vision for Baton Rouge is to operate as a world-class manufacturing site grounded in principles of Lean Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Autonomous Maintenance reliability excellence and digitally enabled performance management. The Plant Manager will play a critical role in shaping and delivering the transformation roadmapbuilding systems discipline capability and culture to enable high performance and sustainable operational maturity.
This role reports to the Head of Supply Chain Americas and is a member of the Americas Supply Chain Leadership Team.
Job Responsibilities
Safety Environment & Compliance
- Lead with a safety-first approach and ensure full alignment to OSHA EPA ISO and industry regulatory standards.
- Establish clear safety expectations leading indicators and accountability mechanisms to reinforce safe behaviors and operational rigor.
- Ensure effective risk management incident learning process safety rigor and workforce participation in safety improvement.
- Serve as the on-site representative with regulatory agencies auditors and local authorities.
Operational Leadership & Performance
- Lead the plants performance across safety quality service cost reliability and working capital.
- Ensure consistent production of high-quality products that meet brand expectations and customer specifications.
- Operate the facility as one integrated system ensuring alignment across operations engineering/maintenance quality supply planning warehouse/logistics and workforce support functions.
- Develop and implement annual operating plans aligned with site capacity commercial demand and regional supply chain priorities.
Transformation & Operational Excellence
- Lead the development and execution of a multi-year transformation roadmap to progress the Baton Rouge facility toward world-class performance.
- Establish foundational AM/TPM and Lean operating routines including visual management standard work tiered accountability and structured problem-solving.
- Sponsor continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste improving equipment reliability enhancing material efficiency and enabling sustainable productivity.
- Lead modernization and infrastructure initiatives including automation process upgrades and capital improvement programs.
People Leadership & Culture
- Lead a non-union workforce promoting a culture centered on accountability transparency respect and continuous learning.
- Build and develop the site leadership team across operations engineering/maintenance HSE planning warehouse/logistics and quality.
- Ensure performance expectations are clear and consistently reinforced through coaching feedback and capability development.
- Build a strong succession pipeline and develop leaders capable of sustaining world-class operations.
Stakeholder & External Engagement
- Serve as the plants external spokesperson with community partners local leaders and emergency preparedness organizations.
- Represent the plant in regional leadership forums benchmarking activities and best-practice exchange within the manufacturing network.
- Maintain alignment with cross-functional partners including HR Finance Engineering Procurement and Supply Planning.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering Operations Management Manufacturing Supply Chain or related field required.
- Valid TWIC card or the ability to obtain one.
- 10 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience ideally in lubricants chemicals industrial manufacturing or top-tier FMCG environments.
- Prior experience as a Plant Manager or equivalent senior operational leader required.
- Experience leading in both union and non-union environments is strongly preferred. This site operates as a non-union facility and requires strong engagement-based leadership.
- Demonstrated success leading operational transformation in environments early in Lean/TPM maturity.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong operational and business acumenunderstands how people systems equipment and materials integrate to drive plant performance.
- Strong applied understanding of Lean TPM and Continuous Improvement methodologies including experience applying structured problem-solving tools in a plant leadership role.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred; Green Belt or equivalent hands-on experience valued but not required.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence coach and build alignment across all levels of the organization.
- Skilled in structured execution prioritization and decision-making in dynamic environments
