Job Summary

Job Title: Placement and Retention Specialist Reports to: Center Manger

FLSA Status: Non-exempt Location: Milwaukee WI

Primary Objectives of Position: The Placement and Retention Specialist provides integrated workforce planning services to career center customers. Aids customers in developing evaluating and effectively initiating and implementing plans to find employment and/or employment skills. Work involves developing and maintaining contact with customers and/or service providers for service needs. Helps customers to engage in self-assessment; obtain occupational information; explore the full range of employment opportunities and/or training; present themselves effectively as candidates; and obtain optimal placement in employment or further occupational information. Completes job development activities such as assessing program participants soft skills and providing soft skills training or refer to appropriate soft skills training prior to scheduling a first meeting between the customer and the employer.

Essential Job Functions:

Establishes and maintains professional business relationships with employers for the purpose of job development.

Successfully place job seekers within jobs posted by assigned business accounts through proactive recruiting efforts.

Provides guidance and other assistance to help the participant obtain employment

Enters data in automated data systems.

Identifies actively works to overcome barriers for employment and retention.

Documents case records and prepares reports.

Guides customers through appropriate activities to meet their job readiness needs.

Conducts employment seminars such as the WI Certified Series.

Provides individual consultation with customers on their needs and abilities.

Markets open positions sourced through Business Services team to program participants through Career Planners and otherwise.

Completes follow-up activities directly with exited program participants and with employers.

Actively supports participants employability plans through coordination with Career Planner.

Works with Digital Outreach Specialist to develop content for website and social media platforms.

Research design and implement retention enhancement strategies and protocols.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Physical requirements include carrying/lifting up to 5 pounds frequently; up to 10 pounds regularly; and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Visual acuity speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to drive an automobile and operate

computer keyboard and basic office equipment; subject to carrying lifting twisting and reaching to perform essential job functions. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other locations.

Required Competencies: Customer/client focus learning orientation communication proficiency teamwork orientation technical capacity. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment through self-motivation accountability and effective time management.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate Degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in Psychology Sociology or related field or equivalent experience.

Experience: At least one (1) year of related experience performing intake and certification work. Human Resources or Recruitment experience preferred but not required.

Skills/Abilities: Computer proficiency including ability to use the Internet and Microsoft Office products. Keyboarding skills mandatory. Ability to work in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and customer-service orientation. Strong oral and written communication skills. Bilingual candidates preferred.

Additional Requirements: Must have valid drivers license and adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
