Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Department of Plastic Surgery is responsible for delivering high-quality patient-centered care across the continuum of reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery services. Working collaboratively with plastic surgeons residents nurses and multidisciplinary teams the APP provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient clinical management perioperative care first-assist support in the operating room and patient education. This position plays a critical role in improving patient access enhancing surgical efficiency optimizing clinical outcomes and supporting the academic research and educational missions of USF Health while maintaining the highest standards of quality safety and compassionate care.
Responsibilities
Clinical :
Perform comprehensive patient assessments including medical history physical examinations and documentation for reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery patients.
Evaluate new and established patients in both outpatient clinic and inpatient settings.
Develop implement and modify treatment plans in collaboration with supervising plastic surgeons.
Order interpret and communicate laboratory radiographic and diagnostic test results.
Perform preoperative evaluations and surgical clearances within scope of practice.
Provide postoperative care including wound assessments drain management dressing changes splinting and
suture/staple removal.
Diagnose and manage common postoperative complications escalating care to the attending surgeon as appropriate. Assist in the operating room as First Assist including tissue handling exposure retraction hemostasis suturing and wound closure. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
Responsible for teaching research service and related administrative activities.
Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
May represent the university college/school or department.
Qualifications
Masters or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and
otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.
Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate ( is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464
and Florida Administrative Code Chapter 64 or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida
Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code Chapter 64.
