Mercy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation team in Springfield this role youll work closely with licensed Physical Therapists to help patients regain mobility improve function and achieve their rehabilitation goals in a supportive patient-centered environment.
As a PTA you will provide high-quality physical therapy treatments monitor patient progress document outcomes and contribute to exceptional patient care while ensuring safety and dignity for every individual served.
- Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Perform therapeutic exercises gait training transfer training and mobility activities.
- Administer modalities including ultrasound electrical stimulation hot and cold packs and whirlpool treatments.
- Assist with wound care procedures while adhering to sterile technique and safety protocols.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and communicate changes promptly to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Document patient progress accurately and timely in accordance with department standards.
- Assess and respond to patient pain management needs during treatment sessions.
- Provide age-appropriate care to patients across the lifespan from newborns to geriatric populations.
- Collaborate effectively with patients families physicians therapists and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to Physical Therapy Aides as directed.
- Identify and report patient safety concerns and support Mercys commitment to quality care.
- Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of practice or state-authorized temporary permit/license where applicable
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply
