Job Summary
This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Safety Security and Asset Management headquartered in Atlanta Georgia.

As a Physical Security Specialist you will:
- Develop and implement training programs for SOC personnel and provides ongoing training on security protocols technologies and best practices.
- Develop a daily blotter ensuring all incidents are captured; reviews investigative statements for accuracy; obtains witness statements; and prepares final reports with recommendations.
- Conduct oversight of assigned security staff provides overwatch of guard operations and reviews guard force investigative statements for accuracy.
- Develop and periodically implements emergency action and response plans; reviews internal and external response plans procedural manuals employee education programs and emergency drills.
- Utilize command and control systems UHF radios WebEOC and mutual aid FM channels to ensure adequate notification and response operations meet CDC security requirements.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service performing or of the following:
- Serving as a technical authority by developing and delivering training on 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) operations including electronic access control IDS CCTV and biological agent surveillance systems.
- Training personnel on critical administrative functions including daily reports blotters and formal incident report writing.
- Providing oversight and training for contract guard forces to ensure compliance with security standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Developing and implementing National Incident Management System (NIMS) strategies to coordinate complex emergency response operations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conducting specialized training on critical notification mobilization radio communications mutual aid coordination and WebEOC utilization for emergency response personnel.
Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level education leading to such a degree or LL.M. if related

Have a combination of education and experience that meets 100% of the requirements.

In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment.
