Pharmacy Technician PRN Evenings

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacy Technician III to support our pharmacy operations during evening PRN this role you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to prepare compound dispense and distribute medications while ensuring compliance with all federal state and local regulations. This position plays a vital role in supporting patient safety medication accuracy and exceptional customer service.
The Pharmacy Technician III assists pharmacists in preparing compounding and dispensing medications. This team member is accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy. The technician performs advanced pharmacy functions supports pharmacy technology systems and contributes to process improvement initiatives while maintaining regulatory compliance and quality standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent pharmacy experience required.
- Active registration and good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician required or willingness to submit application for registration by the first day of employment.
- Must complete fingerprinting and FBI background check requirements as applicable.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required within six (6) months of hire.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Ability to function effectively in a variety of pharmacy roles and practice settings.
- Advanced knowledge of pharmacy dispensing and standard compounding procedures.
- Proficiency in sterile compounding practices including hazardous medications and chemotherapy preparation as applicable.
- Experience troubleshooting automated pharmacy equipment and supporting pharmacy software applications.
- Advanced knowledge of robotic dispensing systems and automated dispensing cabinets.
- Proficiency with pharmacy automation technologies workflow management systems and pharmacy information systems.
- Experience utilizing electronic health records (EPIC preferred) and electronic communication platforms.
- Ability to interpret medical information laboratory values and related clinical data to support pharmacist review and patient care activities.
- Knowledge of prescription adjudication copay assistance programs financial assistance processes point-of-sale systems inventory management and medication ordering procedures as applicable.
- Strong customer service and patient interaction skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under time constraints.
- Capability to train orient and mentor new pharmacy team members.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Enter and maintain accurate information in EPIC and other pharmacy systems.
- Retrieve count package and prepare medications for pharmacist verification.
- Prepare and compound sterile preparations including chemotherapy and hazardous medications as applicable.
- Accurately fill medication orders and prescriptions in a timely manner.
- Ensure medications are prepared and dispensed in accordance with pharmacy standards and regulations.
- Receive secure stock and maintain medication inventory.
- Order medications and pharmacy supplies as needed.
- Retrieve and process unused medications from patient care areas and pharmacy locations issuing credits when appropriate.
- Monitor assigned areas for outdated medications and ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
- Follow hazardous waste disposal procedures.
- Deliver medications to patients customer care areas curbside locations homes or other approved destinations as required.
- Prepare medications for delivery or shipment.
- Conduct patient follow-up phone calls as appropriate for the role.
- Demonstrate outstanding customer service and professional communication at all patient and customer touchpoints.
- Maintain cleanliness safety and proper sanitization of pharmacy equipment.
- Utilize sound judgment to prioritize patient and departmental needs.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and medication use evaluations.
- Assist in collecting data for quality improvement projects.
- Attend department meetings huddles and training sessions.
- Assist with orientation and training of new pharmacy technicians and coworkers.
- Serve as a resource for pharmacy team members regarding workflows processes and technology systems.
- Complete department orientation and technician training programs.
- Successfully complete all hospital-required and department-specific education and competency requirements.
- Complete EPIC training and all assigned pharmacy competencies.
- Complete department-approved sterile compounding training as required.
- Adhere to all organizational policies procedures and standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism integrity and exceptional customer service in all interactions.
- Communicate effectively across shifts and departments.
- Maintain a professional appearance proper hygiene and compliance with dress code and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Foster positive working relationships with patients pharmacists providers and coworkers.
